Made in Western Germany prior to 1975, these reverse carved picture stones are miniature works of art. Known historically as crystal paintings, each of these glass crystal stones is hand pressed with a table polished and faceted edge top through which you can see a detailed intaglio image molded into the back of the stone. The intaglio carving is then painted, the surrounding surface is cut to remove excess color and the back is coated with a medium vitrail color.
